Dr. Shaula Alexander Yemini is a startup mentor, board member and advisor to several technology companies. She is also an angel investor. Until 2007, Shaula was a Vice President at EMC. She joined EMC in 2005 with the acquisition of SMARTS (System Management Arts), a developer of network and system management software that she founded and led as CEO from inception. SMARTS counted among its customers the leading global telecoms, global banks, and multi-national enterprises, as well as thousands of others.

Shaula was named as 1 of 10 “Leaders Among Leaders” in Information Technology by Information Week Magazine, and selected as an Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year. Her company SMARTS was an INC 500 company, a Deloitte & Touche Fast 50 company, and won other prestigious awards.

Prior to founding SMARTS, Shaula was the Senior Manager for Distributed Systems Software Technology at IBM’s T.J. Watson Research Center, where she received an IBM Outstanding Innovation Award for Optimistic Recovery for Fault Tolerant Distributed Systems, and with her group developed the first middleware to span open and legacy systems. Earlier, she was an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at NYU's Courant Institute.

Shaula has a PhD in Computer Science from UCLA, an MSc in Applied Mathematics and a BSc in Mathematics and Physics, both from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem.
